Abstract
With the channel state information at the transmitter (CSIT) available, the transmission scheme can be properly designed to improve the performance of multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems. Various linear precoding techniques have been developed for this purpose. However, most existing work on linear precoding is either focused on information theoretical analysis or uncoded systems. This presentation is concerned with linear precoding techniques in forward-error-control (FEC) coded MIMO OFDM systems. Assuming iterative detection and decoding technique at the receiver, we develop a linear precoding scheme that can efficiently exploit the potential benefits of the available CSIT in MIMO OFDM systems. The proposed design is applicable to both systems with full CSIT and those with partial CSIT.
