From 6th to 9th November, the first semiconductor integrated circuit technology workshop at West Lake was successfully held at Run run shaw science and technology museum, Yuquan campus ZJU. This workshop was co-hosted by the School of Microelectronics ZJU and Zhijiang Laboratory. Prof. Zhao Yi and Dr. Li Xuwu cochaired the workshop.
Leading officials from the national "02" major science and technology project and the Institute of Microelectronics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, ZJU and Zhijiang Laboratory and other institutions attended the workshop and gave speeches | Prof. Zhang Xianmin, Dean of the School of Microelectronics |
Director Zhao Chao, the Institute of Microelectronics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences | Vice Director Yuan Jixin, Zhijiang Laboratory |
Professors from world renowned universities, including Stanford University and Carnegie Mellon University, and senior researchers from internationally known enterprises, including IBM, Intel, Samsung, CEA-Leti and Huawei were invited to deliver a speech at the workshop. In addition, a total number of about 200 experts from relevant institutions, such as Peking University, Hunan University, National University of Defense Technology and Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and enterprises such as SMIC (Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation) attended the workshop.
Experts summarized the development of semiconductor over the past 5 decades, and discussed the future of semiconductor industry. They analyzed the current situation, environment, opportunities and challenges of the integrated circuit in China thoroughly, and proposed innovation models with Chinese characteristics, including policy innovations, business innovations, strengthening the construction of industrial chain and technology innovations. Furthermore, experts at the workshop analyzed the advanced lithography technique, interconnection technique, new device structure FinFET and FDSOI, and other techniques at depth.
Prof. Philip Wong, Standford University | Dr. Wu Hanming, Brite Semiconductor,Inc. CEO |
Dr. Yan Borodovsky, Intel | Dr. Rama Divakaruni, IBM |
All the experts present are unanimous in recognizing the workshop as an effective platform for researchers and users in the relevant fields to study and exchange ideas. The success of the workshop further propels the industry-university-research collaboration and contributes to the cultivation of high-end talents in the field of integrated circuit.
