On March 26, the appointment ceremony for Professor Susanto Rahardja was held in the conference room in the administration building of ISEE, Yuquan Campus. Executive deputy dean of ISEE, Prof. Yang Jianyi, was present at the ceremony, and the ceremony was hosted by Prof. Zhang Zhaoyang.

Prof. Yu Lu, the coworker introduced Prof. Susanto and his achievement in details. Prof. Susanto received his PhD in electronics engineering at Nanyang Technology University in 1997. He completed the senior manager course at Stanford in 2012. Susanto’s resume is glorified by his experience as the associate professor in Nanyang Technology University, the chief inspector and head scientist of the SNICTI, the executive vice-president of the SNICI, and the research director of the SIDD. He was selected as an IEEE fellow in 2011 and a Thousand Talent in 2014, and is now a chair professor at the Northwestern Poly-technical University.
Prof. Susanto has made great contributions in multimedia signal processing, audio signal processing, frequency expansion and CDMA multi-user detection technology, digital signal processing and its implementing algorithms,signal enhancement, noise compensation, etc. He has published more than 300 articles in top journals like the IEEE Transactions on Audio, Speech and Language Processing, IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, and IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communication. He has contributed more than 50 technologies to the ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 29/WG11 and ITU-T SG16 Q.6. Standards, and has obtained over 50 authorized-patents. He was honored with the gold prize of Chen Jiageng Youth Invention Prize in 2003, Singapore NTP 2007, Spring Excellent Standard Prize 2006, as well as Achievement Prize by the Singapore Communication technology research institution (12R). Prof. Susanto and his team have developed the expandable lossless audio encode technology and the time domain lossless audio technology, which are adopted in the MPEG-4 part 3 SLS and IEEE 1857.2 standards respectively.

Prof. Yang Jiangyi declared the hiring decision, issued the letter of appointment to Prof. Susanto, and adorned him with the school badge. Prof. Susanto thanked the warm welcome, and said he was honored to be hired by Zhejiang University. He hopes he could bring more exchanges and collaborations between the schools in the field of scientific research, talents education and discipline construction, in order to promote common development.
At the second half of the ceremony, Prof. Susanto delivered a academic lecture themed ‘Achieving Research Excellence’.
