10th International Conference on Wireless Communications and Signal Processing (WCSP 2018) was held successfully by Zhejiang University during Sept.18-20,2018 in Hangzhou Huagang HNA Resort. This is the second time that Zhejiang University has hosted the event since 2013. More than 300 academic and industrial experts and scholars from more than 10 countries and regions attended the conference.
With the technical support of IEEE, IEEE Communications Society, IEEE Communications Society Nanjing Branch, IEEE Signal Processing Society Nanjing Branch, China Communications Society Signal Processing Branch, China Electronics Society Communication Branch and Information Theory Committee, and other major academic organizations in the field around the world, WCSP has become one of the world's most famous and influential international academic conferences in the field of wireless communication and signal processing. The conference coincided with the 10th anniversary of WCSP.
Prof.Khaled Letaief, President of the IEEE Communications Society, attended the conference and highly praised all the arrangements. In addition, Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, chief editor of IEEE Internet of Things Journal, Prof.Sherman Shen from the University of Waterloo, Academician of the Royal Academy of Engineering, Prof.Lajos Hanzofrom the University of Southampton, former editor of IEEE Trans. Signal Processing, Prof.Zhiquan(Tom) Luo from Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen), IEEE Fellow, Prof.Geoffrey Ye Li from Georgia Institute of Technology, candidate chief editor of IEEE Transaction on Wireless Communications, Prof.Junshan Zhang from Arizona State University, chief editor of IEEE Wireless Communications Letters, Prof.Wei Zhang from University of New South Wales, IEEE Fellow, Prof.Wei Yu from University of Toronto, IEEE Fellow, Prof.Costas Courcoubetis and Prof.Tony Quek from Singapore University of Technology and Design, IEEE Fellow,Prof.Kat-Kit Wong from University College, Dr. IEEE Fellow Merouane Debbah from Huawei French Institute, and IEEE Fellow from Alibaba, Dr. Xiansheng Hua, Chief Scientist of Urban Brain came to the conference to exchange thoughts and brought an academic feast to the conference.
The theme of this conference covers eight main research directions in the field, including communication theory, wireless communication, wireless networks, signal processing, network information security, application of machine learning in communication and signal processing, underwater acoustic communication and signal processing and Internet of Things. Accepted papers reflect the latest international research progress in these areas and research directions. The conference received 642 submissions from 24 countries and regions including China, the United States and the United Kingdom. After a rigorous review by the Technical Program Committee, 283 papers were eventually accepted and verbally preached. Meanwhile, after the independent recommendation of the societies and the independent evaluation and voting of the award committee, 10 high-quality papers were finally awarded the Best Paper Award.
The theme of this conference is “Building the Network Intelligence for Future Wireless”, and there were invited top experts and scholars from academia and business circles at home and abroad to give keynote speeches. Participants shared important idears on 5G and 6G wireless mobile communications, artificial intelligence and its integration with communications and networks, urban brain, big data processing, Internet of Things, cyberspace security and other future areas of intelligent information network research.
Among them, Prof.Zhiquan (Tom) Luo introduced the latest development in the algorithm for large-scale optimization problems in the field of big data. Prof.Costas Courcoubetis introduced techniques for solving wireless network congestion using 5G delay tolerance. Dr. Xiansheng Hua introduced the progress of large-scale visual intelligence in the real world. Dr. Merouane Debbah presented the challenges and opportunities for Wireless Artificial Intelligence (Wireless AI). Prof.Junshan Zhang introduced the impact of social learning technology on the privacy protection of the group-aware system. Prof.Wei Yu introduced the application of deep learning theory in wireless scheduling. Prof.Geoffrey Ye Li introduced the application of deep learning in physical layer communication. At the same time, a special discussion themed Will machine learning tools replace communications engineers was held during the conference, which once again inspired the enthusiastic exchanges of inspiration and strong response from the participants.
The three-day conference left a deep impression on many domestic and foreign participants. The successful holding of the conference further expanded the influence of Zhejiang University in the field at home and abroad.
