From May 23rd to 26th, the 13th Global Symposium on Millimeter Waves & THz (GSMM) and China Microwave Week 2021 were successfully held in Nanjing International Youth Conference Center, China. LIN Xiaobin and GU Zheming, doctoral students supervised by Prof. LI Erping, respectively won the Best Student Paper Award of ICMMT in 2021 and Best Student Paper Award of GSMM.
LIN Xiaobin (second from left)
At the conference, LIN Xiaobin gave an oral report entitled Ultra Sharp Curved Waveguide Design Based on Topology Optimization. After on-the-spot defense and evaluation by a number of international well-known experts on line, he finally stood out from over 260 students’ papers and won the Best Student Paper Award of ICMMT 2021. Only three of the papers were selected in this conference, and this paper was one of them.
GU Zheming giving a report
After discussion and evaluation by many experts of the technical committee of the conference, GU Zheming, a doctoral student, won the Best Student Paper Award of GSMM 2021, for his thesis entitled Fast Prediction for Electromagnetic Shielding Effectiveness of Ground-Via Distribution of SiP by Convolutional Neural Network. It is reported that only two best student papers and one best conference papers were selected at GSMM.
Both LIN Xiaobin and GU Zheming are from ISEE of Zhejiang University, and are under the guidance of Prof. LI Erping (IEEE fellow).
The Global Symposium on Millimeter-Waves &THz has been held all over the world (the first one was also held in Nanjing, China in 2008) for 13 times. More than 1400 famous scholars and representatives attended the microwave week meeting. Besides Chinese mainland scholars, representatives from other countries including the United States, Japan, Singapore and other countries and regions also attended online. The conference held in-depth exchanges and discussions on submillimeter wave and terahertz technology, millimeter wave and terahertz communication and sensing, the latest developments in millimeter wave and terahertz fields, millimeter wave antennas, devices and integrated circuits.
