Recently, the IEEE Communications Society Asia-Pacific Board Technical Affairs Committee announced that Huang Chongwen, research professor of ISEE, won the 16th IEEE ComSoc Asia- Pacific Outstanding Young Researcher Award in 2021.
Established by the IEEE Communication Society, the Award celebrates the excellent young researchers under the age of 35 who have made influential achievements in the field of information and communication in the past three years. It is the highest honor for young researchers in the field of information and communication in the Asia-Pacific region. Huang Chongwen was awarded this honor for his contribution to the 6G wireless communication network enabled by the Intelligent Super Surface (RIS). The winners will be awarded certificates and bonuses at the IEEE Global Communications Conference in Madrid, Spain in Dec. 2021.

Huang mainly engages in the sixth-generation key wireless communication technology, and his main research directions include intelligent super-surface-enabled wireless communication technology, holographic wireless communication and AI-enabled intelligent wireless communication. He has published more than 50 academic papers, one of which has been cited more than 920 times within 26 months (Google Scholar), three ESI hot papers, and five ESI highly cited papers. He has served as the editorial board of six international flagship journals, including IEEE Communication Letter, Elsevier Signal Processing, EURASIP Journal on Wireless Communications and Networking, Physical Communication, etc., and the guest editor of IEEE Wireless Communication Magazine (IF=11.979). At the same time, he has also served as the thematic chairperson of 2021 IEEE WCNC, 2021 IEEE VTC-Fall, 2021 IEEE WCSP and other international flagship conferences.
Since joining ISEE in Sept. 2020, Huang has won two international academic awards in just one year, including IEEE Communications Society Marconi Paper Award (one of the highest academic awards in the field of international wireless communications) and IEEE ComSoc Asia-Pacific Outstanding Young Researcher Award, which is also a new breakthrough in this field of our college.
