Institute of Signal Space and Information Systems (S³)

Brief Intro:

The Institute of Signal Space and Information Systems at Zhejiang University was established in 2016. The institute has 11 faculty members, more than 70 graduate students, and 2 staff members. The institute's research directions include:

  • Underwater detection: Aiming to enhance sonar detection performance through research on target detection, localization, identification, and tracking.

  • Underwater observation: Developing techniques of ocean environment and sound field reconstruction based on multi-source observation and artificial intelligence.

  • Underwater acoustic communication and networking: Integrating communication technology with underwater acoustics to develop reliable and environmentally-adaptive underwater communication technologies.

  • Unmanned systems: Focusing on the development of small autonomous underwater vehicles and sensing-centric mobile platforms.

Research Pillars:

underwater detection, underwater observation, underwater acoustic communication and networking, unmanned systems
